Panax ginseng could increase the libido of women, while also preventing erectile dysfunction in men, according to medical website WebMD.
But, you’ll need to take the supplements for at least two weeks to notice any effect, it warned.
Equally, taking too much ginseng could make you feel more sleepy than normal, so it’s best to stick to the recommended dose.
“It happens to just about everyone: Your sex life ebbs and flows,” said the medical website.
“Your age, health, and how you feel about your relationship can all have an impact. In some situations, supplements might help.
“Panax ginseng [Asian ginseng] might raise sexual desire in women going through menopause.
“In a small study, women saw improvements after taking three 1g capsules every day for two weeks.
“It may help improve erectile function in men, too. Studies typically use doses of 900 to 1,000mg two to three times a day.”
You could also increase your sex drive by eating more chocolate, claimed the Cleveland Clinic.
Chocolate could mimic the same feelings of pleasure as arousal, it said. The best type of chocolate for increasing sex drive are those with high cocoa contents.
Eating chocolate could also promote the release of some mood-lifting chemicals, including serotonin and phenylethylamine.

Stress, anxiety and exhaustion could all have a major impact on your overall happiness, including your sex drive, said the NHS.
If you’re constantly feeling tired or stressed, it may be worth speaking to your GP or making some lifestyle changes.
Your sex drive could also be impacted by your previous sexual encounters, it added.
Ejaculation problems, erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness and the inability to orgasm could all lead to low libido.
